Get your engines ready. Relief Riders International is adding a new Motorcycle Relief Ride this coming January in India. Reservations are now open for the close to 1,100-mile ride across the Thar Desert of Rajasthan on 500cc Royal Enfield motorcycles. And that’s not all, along the way the small group of 12 riders and two guides will also help in digging a well and building a bathroom at a local school and volunteer at a cataract and dental camp, assisting with administrative duties. Though there will be time for relaxation and unwinding when the riders stay at the beautiful ancient forts along the way, including Samode Bagh (surrounded by the Aravalli Hills), Vivaana Haveli (restored from the 19th century) and Sardar Samand Lake Palace (an Art Deco hunting lodge).

Tip: For this ride, it is suggested that travelers have a motorcycle license and two years of riding experience; remember you will be riding on those busy Indian streets. But don’t worry; if a guest gets tired of hitting the road each day, there will be a Jeep following the group with extra seats, snacks and the luggage.
