Epic Hotel Miami

Kimpton’s Epic Hotel & Residences on Miami’s Biscayne Boulevard is creating a buzz, thanks to its swank pool area and two-story, waterfront River Lounge where the locals go to dance and people-watch. We also like the fact that it offers direct dockside access and marina services to Biscayne Bay.

Also helping to spur the excitement for the hotel is the sleek Exhale Spa, which has set up shop on the 16th floor (the overall building has the 414-room hotel and 340 condos). The Exhale brand, known for its day spas throughout the country, here has a bi-level facility covering 12,000 square feet, which includes a yoga studio overlooking the pool deck with great Biscayne water views and a Core Fusion studio with floor-to-ceiling glass walls on two sides and a “floating” ballet barre. (Note: The Core Fusion program is an Exhale signature; it’s designed around traditional cardiovascular and weights machines and equipment). Of the 14 therapy rooms, two are set up for couples’ therapies; for pampering, a Wellbar provides express treatments, plus nails, waxing and brow services.

Luxury travel advisors can contact Spa Director Danielle Terranova (dterranova@exhale spa.com; 305-423-3909).

While there’s a lot of good stuff going on indoors, we love the access spa guests have to the hotel’s 13,752-square-foot pool deck with two swimming pools and 10 private cabanas.

Note: The hotel has a useful “Bon Voyage” package for cruise passengers embarking in the Port of Miami. It includes accommodations, continental breakfast and taxi service to the port. Who says a spa treatment can’t be added on to the experience to get a jumpstart on the pampering? We suggest the “Revive and Restore” package, which incluces a manicure and pedicure, facial and a fusion massage.

They’ve likely stayed in one of the two corner Presidential Suites on the 30th floor, which are residential in style with oversized balconies, large bathrooms and bedrooms. (Note: These cannot be booked on the GDS.) Other larger accommodations include loft-like Junior Suites, which have a bedroom with a sitting room. One-bedroom Suites have floor-to-ceiling windows in the bedroom, two balconies and a separate living room.
